Career Break Advice.......Please!!

Single mum of twins, currently 6 months old. Due to go back to work in August but can't see how I can return due to childcare etc. Don't want to quit job as I'm hoping to go back part-time once kids at nursery.

How do you go about applying for a career break?
What benefits would I be entitled to while on a career break?

Any other advice would be very much appreciated. Starting to stress already!!

does your employer offer career breaks? I think it varies from employer to employer and they will dictate the terms.

I'm not sure, it's the local authority so I'm pretty sure they will. I have worked my way up to a really good job however there was a reorganisation when I was pregnant and I went into another team which still wasn't up and running when I went on maternity leave......I'm hoping a career break may be a bit easier as I haven't been in the post so they wont have missed me if you know what I mean.

Terms of career breaks were laid out in our hr policies, so they were pretty clear. Maybe worth checking yours? Sorry, I don't know much more than that, but it's not legislative like maternity leave etc, is my understanding.

Thanks, will need to get investigating hehe all my time has been taken up by the boys not had a chance to even think about it really but my mind has been working overtime when boys in bed.

I take it there would be no benefit entitlement apart from child benefit??
