I have had almost 6 years off work, although in that time I've learned to design websites (self taught), and have a website running for a company (for dh) Created tons of adverts and marketing/promos/brochures etc which have been selected by advertisers as some of the best and have been using my pages on their promotions:):):) This is all for dh's company while I've been off work so none of it was paid but business is pretty great atm. Which is good enough for me. DH and the staff do credit that to my hard work and dedication. However, how do I put that into a CV?

Personally, I'd be putting that in the employment history on my cv, rather than personal profile section. Put that you worked for XXX company on a freelance basis when required between 2008-2011 (or whenever). I would ignore the fact it was unpaid, unless they specifically asked eg if they noticed the company was dh's name. After all, if you had been volunteering on the till in a charity shop for a couple of years you could put it on! Just describe the work you did, and the industry recognition for the quality of you work. I would definitely put in that you are self taught, although I'd also put that in the personal section eg 'I'm hardworking and pick new things up quickly, I taught myself to do web design to a high standard as evidenced by Advertisers using my work on their pages'
