speak to him I think he looks on you as a friend as well as an employee.

I would speak to him and say that "x called me at the weekend with some concerns - did she talk to you?" that way you make it clear that you know what your colleague's concerns are, but also makes it clear that you do not share them.

If it's bothering you a lot, and it seems to be, I would suggest speaking to your boss otherwise you'll get your knickers in a twist about it.

Just mention that you had an odd call from your colleague in which she mentioned that she'd resolved "your" issues with him and you aren't sure what she meant. Can he clarify?
