Hi could anyone give me any advice over this (rough draft) covering letter. Is there anything i should take out or put in? I've never had to write one before so totally stuck. Thanks.

I am writing to apply for the Sales Assistant position advertised
on 13th February on the jobcentreplus website. I am very interested in this
position, and I think that with my previous experience I could be an asset to
your company. I am a hardworking person who has high expectations of myself
and love a challenge. I enjoy working with customers and have an approachable friendly
personality. I know i do not have recent experience however I am looking forward to
getting back to work and promise to deliver excellent service.

I am totally flexible except from Mondays and Thursdays when I can only work up until
11am as I need to work around my partners hours. I am only mentioning this as I dont
want you to waste your time, but if this can be catered for then you will be gaining a
loyal and dependable employee.

I really hope you will give me the chance to prove myself as you will not be dissappointed.

Yours Sincerely

I wouldn't highlight the fact that you have no recent experience and I would rephrase the but about only working till 11am (fair point but sounds as if the company has to work around you - say I am available min till 11, tues all day, wed all day - sounds much better). Good luck Smile

Do you have experience in a similar position in the past, even if it's not recent? If so, I would mention that, rather than highlight the career break.
