Contact with work during mat leave

I am having a bit of a stressful time trying to arrange return to work and reducing hours to part time. One particular area I am debating is the right to be informed whilst on mat leave. Our hours have changed slightly and there has been 3positions advertised whilst i have been on mat leave. I should have been informed of these as far as i understood maternity rights? I was told quite angrily that it was my responsiblity to find out what was going on in the workplace and contact colleagues if I want to know things. Surely this is a load of rubbish? Any advice or others' experiences would be appreciated.

Yes your employer must ensure you have equal access to internal vacancies as if you were at work. How do you find out about vacancies while at work?

Hi

Yes you should have been informed.whilst you have to keep in touch they should not expect you to ring all of your colleagues for updates! What a load of rubbish they are telling you. I know from experience in dealing with my friends case that they will angrily and even bully you into thinking something else particularly as they are wrong but do not want you to know that. Or that they generally don't know laws very well.

Either way take legal advice, ring ACAS and maybe put it in a grievience.

Thanks for your replies. I have visited twice and emailed and I have never been contacted by them. It is a really awkward position that you just don't need when preparing to going back to work!
