Payment via PayPal for freelance work

I've freelanced for ages but have always been payed by cheque or bank transfer. Now a new client (abroad) has said they will pay me by PayPal if I am invoicing for less than $500 per month. I feel a bit dubious about this ? I will have to pay charges to receive the money and it's possible for a client to reverse a payment without notification (I think).
Does anyone receive payment via PayPal? Am I right to be worried?
Also, how do I withdraw the credit on a PayPal account to my bank? I never realised this was possible!

Charges alone make it unworthwhile, unless they will inflate the payment by enough to cover them.

DH once got paid via paypal and the client paid more to cover the fees (not sure how much money was involved..). Client was based abroad but DH knew him through his brother, so there was no reason really to not to trust the client.
It possible to withdraw money from paypal, I've done that many times, it just takes 3-4 working days.

It's going to cost you to receive money from abroad whatever way you do it, so increase your charges to account for it (5% should cover it).

I believe that most of the problems with PayPal reversals are related to eBay transactions so check the terms you are signing to see how they might affect plain PayPal payments.

I have been paid by an international client via PayPal. It was actually really easy and quick. You then just draw the money down. As others have said, I'd try to add the cost of the fees onto your invoice.

I have paypal available as an option on my website - I add an option on the invoices which adds 4% to the invoice. It's their choice whether to pay by paypal or not. This more than covers the fees.

I use PayPal as an option for international clients - don't forget to note the transaction fees that PayPal take as they can be included on the tax return.
