What do you put on your CV for the gaps when you were on ML or being a SAHP?

If you left your job after a year of maternity leave what date would you put as your leaving date?

when your mat leave ended. you're still employed by the company

goldenoldie · 28/01/2006 13:41

I never mention my maternity leave - I was employed, so why mention it?

sansouci · 28/01/2006 13:45

The truth. What is wrong with taking some time to spend with a newborn baby? Any potential employer who would discriminate for that should be shot.

uwila · 28/01/2006 14:43

I would not mention maternity leave for the 12 months when you are still employed by the company. If you stayed home longer than that then you should find something to put in those gaps I supppose. Possibly something on a volunteer basis related to your career?

I agree - maternity leave , you are still employed.

If you left after maternity leave (like I did).

baking cakes, having manicures and going to coffee mornings....

How long are we talking about? What sort of job are you looking for? What sort of job did you do before? I could perhaps offer better advice if I knew more about the situation.

I have an asterisk at the end of my employment career and put in there the times when I was on ML. I think I do it mainly to show I've done my children, so please employ me, no surprises anymore.

Blondeinlondon · 31/01/2006 16:59

Okay I have put the date my mat leave ended as the date my job ended. Thanks all

Not seriously looking for a job but wanted to update the CV and stick it on a couple of sites just in case anyone wants to employ me pt
