Possible job offer + pregnant...

I have been working for my current employer part time freelance for 7 months. Recently they advertised my position as they wanted someone permanent and full time. However, it turns out all the applicants were rubbish so now there's a possiblitiy they're gonna offer it to me (part time). However, in the meantime I got pregnant as I was expecting to be redundant (not the only reason obviously!) I'm only 7 weeks. Do I have to tell them if I am offered a job? When do I have to tell them? How do things stand with maternity pay too - I couldn't afford to go back to work with childcare costs for 2 children...

You don't have to tell them that you are pg before or after being offered the job, until you are ready to do so. If they would refuse on that basis, they would be breaking the law anyway. Re Maternity pay- think it depends on whether you would be considered to have been continually employed, whether they will count continuity of employment from the day you started your freelance work. If not then you may only be eligible for maternity allowance. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that, what is maternity allowance? What are the criteria to be eligible for it!?
