if you have an account thats all messed up and you go through it, their statement against yours, find where it doesnt match, look up the invoices and speak to the suppliers to discuss and remedy. if any credit notes are due, any disputes etc then work out the what you actually owe them and get the account up to date. i am stupid and dim and need a word to describe this (am applying for jobs). thanks!!!

people all seem to be asking for reconcilliation of cashbooks and i havent a clue what that is, ive only done that kind of stuff with the suppliers accounts. im trying to pretend i still have a brain (spending too much time with the children)

Would that possibly be reconciling a cashbook to a bank statement? i.e checking for payments in made by company not reflected on BS or cheques raised by company not cleared through bank? If you have reconciled suppliers' statements, then that's broadly the same skill as reconciling a cash book I think.
