does anyone know how long you have to go back for till you are clear of having to pay back any maternity pay, am thinking about doing it for a few months and then quitting (really want to be a SAHM and bring up dd) she is my first and i don't want to miss anything

why do you need to pay back the maternity pay???

shellybelly · 20/01/2006 13:32

tbh i don't know if I do, can't even remember where i heard it, aaah it was someone at work who mentioned it, thought it was compulsory thing with every employer, I should probably do some investigating then

Check your terms of employment/company policy. It is very much contractual.

It's only anything over and above smp. I work in Local Govenment and I get 6 weeks @90% of full pay, 12 weeks @50% of full pay + smp and 8 weeks @ smp. It would only be the 12 weeks @ 50% I would have to repay if I didn't work for 12 weeks when returning from maternity leave.

Depends what the regs are for where you work. Does it have an intranet? Mine states what would need to be repaid on the letter I received from the Personnel dept when I gave in my MATB form. HTH
