Hi all , I am currently a psychiatric nurse with 13 years experience . I have been the child safeguarding lead , and physical health lead on the ward .
I desperately want to work in the community but it is a complete no go area .
I really cannot go on any longer doing shift work , my DH works shifts too and it is very stressful managing child care and caring for our children .
So ..
I have seen a job advertised working with HV's and school nurses , band 5.
I have spoken to the manager and my application will be considered .
Please could somebody give me some
pointers on what would be very useful to put in my application form please ? Any info on Govt strategies or targets that I need to research would be really appreciated . Thankyou.

not a HV but considering training.

guess this post is NHS/PCT - follow the person specification for the role, most shortlisting is point based so if you can write to the criteria then more points = interview.

Another lead maybe? locally (in my area) the SHA is recruiting nurses to train as HV's as the government is wanting to increase numbers in the community. Training comes salaried too.

Thankyou Twinkly.
I keep looking at the person spec but it just seems so none specific!
Would love to be a HV - have been toying with the idea for a long time.
I think there are becoming more and more of these community nurse posts working with the HVs because it's a band lower and the Govt get to save money .
I think when my home life becomes more settled I will do my HV training - but I thought this post would at least be one step closer for now.
