both me & dh are self employed, although dh also has some employed work too. being tax return time, we're both doing our tax returns. dh uses his personal allowance against his self employed earnings, and already pays tax on his employed earnings at source. i don't earn much as i fit what i do around the kids so my own personal allowance remains mostly unused.

don't suppose there's any way (probably not!) i can transfer my allowance/tax code is there?

nope, sorry
but make sure you maximise his home office costs and minimise yours ......

he's knocked off all he can. it's great he's earned as much as he has, and i guess we're lucky that although we don't have the full amount right now, we do have money due in soon. can't pay what we owe on account yet though, that'll just have to wait a bit.

If you have any investments earning interest or dividend income (eg shares or interest paying bonds or savings) you should have them all put in your name so that your tax allowance is set against them.

investments?? what are these things of which you speak?

no, don't have anything like that. wish we did!

He can employ you. You might like to look at getting an accountant, although you have probably left it a bit late to change your position for 1010/11.
