Just found out my partner can't take any time off in the summer. This is going to cost a fortune in childcare, plus I would prefer not to send them to childcare for 4 weeks as opposed to 2 weeks. Does anyone know if I have a right to unpaid leave as this is an exceptional one off?

How old are you children and do either of them have disabilities? You may be able to request unpaid parental leave of up to 4 weeks.

See here for more details or ask away www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/Moneyandworkentitlements/WorkAndFamilies/Parentalleaveandflexibleworking/DG_10029416
