Came back to work on 3rd Jan, its been OK but as time goes on am finding I am missing DS more and more. Am working 4 days a week atm but will go up to full time from next week. DH has given up work and is now SAHD but I am finding it all quite hard to cope with. Things are better when I'm busier but am moping a lot this morning and would be v grateful for advice/support...

Oh, I know how you feel. When my ds was little I was working and dh stayed at home and I hated it. No advice I'm afraid but loads of sympathy.

Sorry you're feeling so low. For what it's worth, as you ask for advice - mine would be: consider whether you really HAVE to work full time. If your current employer won't have it, can you change jobs to one where you could work two or three days? Have you tried every financial avenue - ie can you move and downsize so that your outgoings are smaller? Could you work half the week and your husband half the week?

If all the avenues have been tried then I think tell yourself that your son is at home with a loving parent and therefore receiving the best care possible - and what a lovely experience for both father and child to have that time together. Then you can allow yourself to miss him but hopefully not brood too much.

You do say though that you're finding the whole arrangement so hard, so don't feel 'railroaded' that you have to stick to it. You only get these baby days once and your child only gets a few short years at home before they whizz out to school every day, so if you want to be there don't fear saying it. maybe you and your husband could work half the week each? would he be agreeable?

Don't know if it helps, but my son goes to school this year and I just CANNOT believe how fast this time has gone - so if you do think things would be as big struggle financially then yes maybe they would - but it's for a limited time and it's over so fast!

Good luck and have a good day, thinking of you x
