Please could anyone advise what we are able to claim for:

My DH and myself will have a joint income of £18000 pa. This will be with me working part time 20 hours not 35 as usual.

We will be paying for childcare for the two and a half days.

Do not think it will be worth me going back to work after paying for the childcare fees.

Not sure who to contact, how to claim, or what we can claim for.

You should definitely be able to clain tax credits for your childcare costs as you are working over 16 hours per week. See inlandrevenue.gov.uk for details but I think you can only apply by phone now.

Try using Entitled To , it will give an indication of what you may be able to claim, in terms of tax credits and other benefits such as Council Tax relief.

You will need to know how much Childcare is going to cost you, per week. Also, any investments you may have can affect the figures, including savings over £3,000 so when visiting Entitled To, read the info regarding what is considered to be income.

Once you have an award figure, the site will tell you how to apply for each benefit identified as being possible for you to get.

For Tax Credits, the number is 0845 300 3900 (Northern Ireland 0845 603 2000)
