I have set up an online typing business and don't know how to promote it! I am not the sort of person to knock on doors but not sure how to effectively advertise? Has anyone else got experience with this? Please help!!

I've recently set up a new business and in all honesty the marketing I thought would work hasn't and I've got business from unexpected sources.

The only advice I can give is to set yourself a budget and try out different things to see what works. I've spent a lot (relatively!) on adverts but have had nothing from them. On the other hand, £20 here and there on women's networking lunches has generated far more interest. Also, make sure that everyone knows what you're doing. My newest client came from the playground!

are you on linkedin - contact EVERYBODY you have ever worked with, went to uni with, went to school with
update your profile - even by one word - on a weekly basis

I presume you went self employed because you had the skill and a few contacts
have you mentioned to former colleagues what you are doing now?
