I just found out I am pregnant but I haven't told anybody yet because I am only five weeks along.
I have just found out about a job opening at work that would be a sort of lateral promotion and I want to go for it. Basically, I work on a busy telephone help desk and spend all day taking calls, along with doing lots of email responses. The new job would be on the extra fancy help desk that big clients ring through to. There would be a lot fewer calls and more admin, probably more responsibility and a bit more pay.
I asked my supervisor if I should apply for it and she said go for it, and that she has actually just been promoted to supervisor of that help desk as well. I know that she and our dept manager think highly of me and I already have more responsibilites than almost everyone else on my current desk.
Will it look bad if I apply for this job only to inform them that I am pregnant? I would like to tell my coworkers at 12 weeks, and would obviously have to announce it by May to give the full fifteen week notice. I would not go on ML until September unless it's a difficult pregnancy.
