accrue bank holidays while on maternity leave?

Has anyone dealt with this before? My HR is telling me I don't accrue bank hols while on Maternity Leave, which I disagree with. I've found some old threads on this topic but thought I'd check to see if anyone has dealt with it recently and has experience/resources to quote. Thanks!

They're wrong, if I recall correctly the rules changed with babies due after October 2008.

I had dd in April 09 and resigned at the end of my mat leave, my employers paid me for accrued leave (after I told them they had to!) including public hols and they were not the type to give anything beyond their statutory obligations. Let me see if I can find you the link.

Phew, my OH and MIL seem to think I was asking for the moon on a stick, I am so glad I am not alone! With the extra bank holiday for the royal wedding it all adds up! Thanks ladies :)
