Just dawned on me that those anoying adverts apply to me an I have until the 31st to do them argh!!!!.
I have nothing entered in my actual account book, just a pile of receipts and records of my sales at each event. I better get started on Monday, just wonder if i am the only silly sod who leaves it to the last minute?

hi skribble, i need to get mine done aswell and the end of the month is looming!

I have applied to do it online and am about a fifth of the way through.

It's a complete nightmare, not least because my paperwork and records ae strewn around the house.

good luck with yours!

I was all set to do it on line last year and then realised i had to register so I just filled in the form. I just have to do the basic bit. But this year I have 3 employed jobs to put in too.

I did it on line (couple of days ago - slightly smug emoticon) and found it 100% easier than trying to fill in the forms. If you want to go that route register tonight on the government web site so you get all the pin numbers etc through before the deadline. I don't have a link but if you google 'tax gateway' that should get you there.

Totally sympathise though - I HATE doing my tax. I can never find the right bits of paper and the form does my head in. Only did it early this year because I had a particularly horrible job on and doing my tax instead actually seemed appealing!

I might register before i log off, the thing is I still have to actually do my accounts before I even start on the form.

Just spent ages trying to post a link to the self assessment site but failed! Here's the url:

Skribble - it'll take a good few days before the pin numbers etc come through so worth registering asap even if you haven't done the accounts. It'll make you feel better just having done something.

Done it, that anoying man is even on the website, well hes not that bad, I like his history programmes but he does go on a bit when it comes to tax .

gosh, did mine ages ago! [smug emoticon]. needed to to get the tax credits exemption cert and my childcare costs partially paid by govt!

Skribble · 15/01/2006 00:07

I swear I will do the next one as soon as I get the form, rather than filing it in the bathroom cabinet with the other toilet reading. Honest that is where i just found it, paniced when I realised I needed a number of it and for some strange reason it was there still in the plastic wrapper funny that .

Know what you mean Skribble - the ad that was on tonight was horrible - a big egg timer thing and him almost sliding down inside it. Then he has the cheek to say 'tax needn't be taxing'. Like he would know. Bet he's got a lovely accountant who does it all for him.

Skribble · 15/01/2006 00:14

LOL , I remember at a small business training session the tax person that came to talk to us told us that on the 31st on Jan there was always a queue of white vans lined up outside the tax offices while all the self employed people tried to hand in the forms. Oh how we laughe, now I realise it is probably true, and I might have to join them .

Every year until now I've had to get a taxi to the tax office at 4.30pm on 31st January to hand in my tax form. The receipt from afore mentioned taxi then becomes part of the next years tax nightmare....

Skribble · 15/01/2006 00:38

Really, I still thought it was a bit of a myth.
