About to end my Stat Mat leave but will be looking for a job what happens with my National insurance contributions

I completely left my last job prior to having my Son for various reasons. Financially I need to return to work ASAP. My stat mat pay is ending in January how do I ensure that my national insurance is still paid? Is claming job seekers allowance the only option? My OH earns too much to claim for anything, we are not married but live together to get the full picture.

If you receive the child benefit they get paid automatically, even if you are SAHP parent.
