There is no reason why you shouldn't get it. Just try and think of it as a chat. All they want is a nice, friendly, reliable person. Don't be afraid to ask questions as you think of them, that way at the end, you can just say that you think you covered everything. Takes the pressure of the 'do you have any questions bit.'

thanks
i know they are'nt going to expect unusual questions and when i was working, i used to do interviews but after this long am so nervous..then what if i actually GET the job...what do i do then??...

Custard, you'll get the job no probs When ds1 was wee and I was a single parent, working part-time in a pub was the only chance I got for socialising. Absolutely loved it. You'' be great!!

Some questions you could ask are

Why is this position vacant?
When can I expect to hear from you?
Who will train me on the till/changing barrells etc
Do I have to charge mumnetters for their drinks?

Youll be fine, when's the interview?

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 11/01/2006 14:08

Hoorah! It's good fun working in a pub. I developed a really bad habit of drinking gallons of orange juice and lemonade and got a bit addicted to Mini Cheddars so beware.

Custard - thinking of you, nearly chucking out time how did it go?

SwimmingUpHillThroughCustard · 14/01/2006 20:17

was murder!!!!!!!!!!!my feet where on fire!
felt quite ill with all smoke(dont go out drinking) and nothing for dinner..so felt dizzy, went for sit down and carried on, but still ill??..adamant i wasnt going back..but...they only have me down for one shift next week and i thought well, it may be ok for one night a week and still do my c.minding course..well im down for friday again..boss said i did really well and picked eveything up really quickly considering i had no experience and had a chat with some of the regulars..will just have a chat with boss about the one shift and breaks..am i entitled to one working5 and 3/4 hours??, by god i could have done wth one..plus was only offerd a glass of water..could have done with something fizzy to keep me going!..
over all..very tiring(but havent 'worked' in 2 1/2 years so a busy pub is going to be hard aint it!), very smelly(smoke)..but wil enjoy 'earning' some money no matter how little!

thanks for thinking about me

Oh God forgot about the sore feet from all that standing honestly that bit gets better. I remember that my shoes used to fall to bits quite quickly 'cos of the alcohol .

I believe that you are legally entitled to a break after 4 hours, but am [shocked] that you can't help yourself to the 'draught' fizzy drinks (can't remember what it's proper name is). Maybe they just assumed you'd help yourself.

As regards breaks we used to just grab 10 mins here and there, but it depended how busy it was.

well ive just spoken to other manager(a woman) and asked her if its ok if i just carry on doing one night a week and she was great and said no problem..thats put my mind at rest A LOT..rang dp and he said if i want i can still do something another night as he is confident looking after dd at bedtime now..but i think ill see how this go's and if i get used to it(dp said if i realise its not for me, to just let them no and come home friday)i might ask if i can work a weekend daytime on the food bit.
feel a lot better now though!!..maybe ive just forgotton how much my feet killed me!
