Does anyone know much about grievance procedures please?

My main question is - can I as the person who has put in the grievance about a co-worker ask for my line manager not to be present. Am sure she is going to be the mouthpiece for the co-worker. They have been friends for 6 years and worked together for quite a while.

You can ask, yes. You can't insist and depending on the circumstances it may be unrealistic for your line manager not to be involved at all in a grievance you are raising about a colleague.

Have you named the manager as a witness to any of the grievance as it wouldn't be recommended that someone named as axwitness conducts the investigation. Also even if not and not the investigator tge person who is could decide to interview them.
