Got an interview, at last but have a query

Could somone advise me at what point should you mention that you have a couple of holidays booked for next year?

Is it best to mention it at interview stage, at the offer stage (ha! I should be so lucky) or first day in post?

It has been years since I had an interview and a little bit out of practise.

Thanks

I would not mention it at the interview stage as it is not something which is related to the job you will be doing, merely your availability to do that job in a few/some days next year.
If they do offer you the job you could ask then if it would make a difference that you have some holidays booked, and give an indication of when and for how long. If it is a job which has peaks of business frenzy in say Easter, and you are not available then it makes sense to let them know as a matter of courtesy. Let's face it - an already employed person may be taken ill at a busy time of year, and they'd have to cope with that.
If you will be out of the country for 6 months however it may affect the decision!
I think that employers are looking for the right person for the job and it would be a short-sighted employer who did not take the right person on just because they had booked a weeks holiday before getting the job!

Good luck with the interview :)

I think most employers are pretty understanding about holidays that are already booked - don't mention at interview as ElbowFan says not relvelant

Thanks Elbow, that makes a lot of sense. Don't think there will be much "frenziness" occurring as it is running the office in care home for the elderly, but you never know Wink

I Will wait until they offer it to me before I mention the 6 months in Bali! because I am the right person for the job. Just have to convince them Grin
