Have you done a course which has given you good, marketable skills?

I have things in the pipeline but need a few extra skills (quite niche) but I also need to do a bookkeeping course. (If anyone can recommend a good one online, I'd be delighted!)

It got me thinking: what sorts of short, perhaps online courses are worth doing? I'm just being nosey about people's experiences. What extra skills has it been valuable for you to learn? I've got a bit of time until I can get going in work, might as well fill it with something useful Smile

Not me but DH - he did a course in lean management, I think called Six Sigma, after getting fed up with his industry. Got a new job off the back of it!

I heard of one in Salisbury that a friend did. Coaching practitioners tailored to meet needs of mums considering returning to work. Site is www.optimisecoaching.co.uk. Friend emerged flying with hopes n changed direction totally! Am thinking of trying!

If you're thinking of starting your own business, (you say you've things in the pipeline), then I suggest you grab yourself copies of Paula Gardner's "Do Your Own PR", Michael Port's "Book Yourself Solid and Dharmesh & Shah "Inbound Marketing"

Depending on your budget, formal training and qualifications can be expensive, but you can learn a huge amount from Linked In groups. (In real time & Best Practice!) Thus improving your profile for would be recruiters at the same time. Hope that helps.

Profits. Life. Get the right balance!
