part-time admin/PA wages

I'm contemplating employing a part-time administrator to also do some PA work for me. What kind of hourly rate would be expected by someone who could do book-keeping, VAT returns, purchase ledger, general filing, opening of post, mailings, diary management, etc. I need someone with experience as the systems are all at the moment very 'unique' to me, so I need someone with the confidence to take that and reconfigure it to a more standard set-up.
It's a small company and I do the admin myself in the evenings and weekends, so can easily be done in a couple of days per week.

What do I offer in terms of pay and where the hell do i advertise? It would suit a parent with children at school because the hours can be very flexible. But can I aim an advert so directly? Is that even legal?

Look in job center/paper to find out what similar posts are offering. Don't forget to work out total cost of employment (holidays, ni payments etc) from that.

You can put hours suit school runs but you couldn't put "post only open to parents" - I'd just advertise it as flexible family friendly hours.
