Teachers Strike - Can a school create an employment policy for teachers that does not allow them to strike ?

There are some schools near us - Catholic School - that is not closed due to strike action and was not in the summer as I gather the contract of employment with teachers has a no strike policy.

Would this work or does it work with non faith state school ?

Some teachers have decided not to strike, are you sure it isn't that?

Academy? though my employer is an academy and we are allowed to strike and quite right too - fundamental human right IMO. Private school?

It has been attempted, in Ashcroft High School: TES article here but it has not yet been tested and it is far from clear whether I s actually legally enforceable.

No, I think at the Catholic school it is in their contract that they do not strike, besides which I am asking whether it is feasible to have an employment contract as a teacher in a non faith state school which says you do not strike .

it would also depend which union most of the staff were in - VOICE is the teaching union which does not strike - ever - but they have never been a majority. I used to teach in a catholic school - and we did not have a contract that prevented us from striking - I don't think this is common.

Ok , say that teachers were in a striking union and they were asked on offer of a job to sign an employment contract that included that they should not strike - is thats allowed ?

Up to the teacher then whether they take the job with the clause or go off and find another post .

Thoughts? Pitfalls ?
