Colleague called yesterday to find out who my secret santa was for the Christmas party, Told her I hadn't been invited.
Then this evening I got an email from the boss asking me to call tomorrow as we 'need to talk about your job'
I have a very bad feeling about all this. Can they just sack me? Just like that?

oh and i would only take it, if i was you, with an apology and a definitive yes i was at fault from your boss.

MrsJoeDuffy · 12/06/2012 00:59

Best of luck - womenkind is behind you!!

boringnamechange · 12/06/2012 01:05

Have been lurking since the start so wishing you luck.

Graciescotland · 12/06/2012 01:23

Just read this thread. Good luck!

sc2987 · 12/06/2012 01:23

Hope it goes well for you! I lost my claim for unfair dismissal in a redundancy situation but it was much less clear cut then yours as they had consulted at least (albeit IMO with their minds already made up). And I had a couple of law students help a few weeks before the tribunal but no representation on the day. So it was very stressful. Hope yours goes more smoothly.

Have just discovered this thread and have read it all.

TerraNotSoFirma - good luck, you are courageous and fantastic role model for any woman being discriminated against. I wish you all the luck in the world today for you and your family.

All the other MNers - who have given support, encouragement and great advice, you are all fantastic too.

Fingers crossed!

sc2987 :( - I'm sorry for your situation and I hope life is better now.

Another lurker here wishing you Good Luck today.

In taking the case forward you are educating him and his business colleagues/golf club cronies etc about employment law such that it may make one of them act in a less cavalier manner with their female employees in the future.

On the other hand it may make them think twice about employing women at all but in your shoes I'd be taking exactly the same course of action that you are following.

Maybe she's out celebrating !

TerraNotSoFirma · 12/06/2012 23:11

Hello All,

I have had to sign a confidentiality agreement so I am not allowed to tell anybody anything :(

Not even my Dad.

But Terra is a happy bunny. Thank you all for all the support and help esp. Katie M.

sc2987 · 12/06/2012 23:36

Felicitations!

KatieMiddleton · 12/06/2012 23:38

Hurrah! Hope it's a nice big fat juicy settlement and that ex-employer knows the confidentiality clauses in a compromise agreement work both ways. I'm sure your solicitor is on top of this but mutual defamation clauses and an agreement to provide a good reference should be in there.

Now, obviously this is completely separate to any compromise agreement because you can't talk about that, but may I ask two questions? 1. Did you get to see the inside of the tribunal room? 2. Are you pleased you sat tight?

And finally, I am absolutely delighted for you and it was my absolute pleasure to do what I could. I think you have been rather marvellous :)

LaVitaBellissima · 12/06/2012 23:49
