Colleague called yesterday to find out who my secret santa was for the Christmas party, Told her I hadn't been invited.
Then this evening I got an email from the boss asking me to call tomorrow as we 'need to talk about your job'
I have a very bad feeling about all this. Can they just sack me? Just like that?

Yes, good luck - I hope it goes well. :) Do update us.

TerraNotSoFirma · 20/04/2012 14:39

Today went well according to my solicitor (She is fab, Such a nice lady) Ex-boss has been instructed/advised by the tribunal judge to get legal representation. There was no real outcome today as such, Just had to give a list of our witnesses and any dates they were not available.

Tribunal hearing has been set for middle of June. So not long to go now!

Sounds good. I'm sure they realise your boss hasn't a leg to stand on and surely he's bound to have realised that by now too. Stupid idiot.

Would you go back to your old job now?

TerraNotSoFirma · 20/04/2012 23:04

No way Mama. I can't stand the little creep.

He is an arrogant sod who thinks laws don't apply to him, Has lost his licence twice but still drinks and drives. Twat.

Am wondering how easy (or not)it will be for him to get legal representation now, What kind of lawyer is going to represent him?

OP posts:
StillSquiffy · 23/04/2012 08:03

It will be easy for him to get good representation even at this late stage, but that shouldn't faze you - any good lawyer will just tell him to pay up quick.

TerraNotSoFirma · 23/04/2012 08:44

Yes stillsquiffy that seems to be the consensus, That any decent lawyer won't want to take this to a hearing but recommend him to settle beforehand.

Hope so, Either way I know it will all be over in less than two months.

TerraNotSoFirma · 08/06/2012 12:11

Tribunal starts on Tuesday, Unless a decent settlement offer comes through beforehand.

They are admitting unfair dismissal but are denying any pregnancy/maternity discrimination.

OP posts:
TerraNotSoFirma · 08/06/2012 19:56

He has offered 7k, I have said 10k or See you next Tuesday!

OP posts:
TerraNotSoFirma · 08/06/2012 20:00

Ha ha...See you next Tuesday, How very apt considering the person I am dealing with.

Also, One of his staff who I was friendly with (Haven't heard from her since December) texts me this morning asking how I am, Am I looking for a job or am I happy to be a 'full-time Mum' Hmm nice try!

Cant offer any advice but just wanted to say good luck for Tuesday,he sound a right arrogant arse.

MamaMary · 08/06/2012 20:35

Yes, good luck for Tuesday. Sounds interesting. At least he's admitting unfair dismissal now. Let us know how you get on.

:)

TerraNotSoFirma · 08/06/2012 20:35

Thanks Sassy, He is just such a prick!

KatieMiddleton · 11/06/2012 16:16

Oh glad to see an update. Don't reply to the text but do tell your solicitor.

Sounds like he's had some legal advice now which is why he's trying to settle. I would not be surprised if you got a better offer later today. Legal fees start at over £100 per hour plus VAT so an awkward/stupidly arrogant client just means more billable hours because the lawyer gets paid regardless of who wins.

Will watch with interest.

TerraNotSoFirma · 11/06/2012 23:18

Well, No contact from his solicitor today so I report to my solicitors office tomorrow at 9.30am, Tribunal starts at 10.

I am fully aware that I may end up with nothing but that is the risk I am taking.
I have done nothing wrong. He has.
Hopefully the tribunal judge will see that.

I am not sure if I will be able to post through the day but will update when I get home.

Hi Katie, I did tell solicitor about the text, Will mention it again in the morning.

My cousin has advised me that I may get another offer in the morning.
Anyone reading want to tell me what they would do in my situation?

One half of me thinks I should take the offer, The other half thinks I should see it through and not give up.

If you were me, What would you do?

OP posts:
Bossybritches22 · 11/06/2012 23:34

Terra have been following with interest.

Part of me thinks just take whatever increased offer he comes back with.

However the stroppy side of me thinks " don't let the bugger get away with it!"

If you have nothing to lose then go for the tribunal I guess. What is your nice solicitor advising?

Bossybritches22 · 11/06/2012 23:35

Either way good luck Grin

KatieMiddleton · 11/06/2012 23:38

I'd sit tight. There's still plenty of time for them to settle - but take your solicitor's advice.

Best of luck for tomorrow :)

Babylon1 · 11/06/2012 23:42

Sit tight is what I'd do I think.

Good luck Smile

TerraNotSoFirma · 11/06/2012 23:54

Thank you all.

I just want to have the last word. That may be selfish considering the money would help my family, But money isn't everything.

I really don't want him to get away with this.

That being said, I will take my solicitors advice.

Am so nervous.

Thank you everyone.

The support here has meant so much to me. I feel like I have a cheering squad behind me. :)

I will be on here as soon as I can, Don't have a fancy phone so it won't be until I get home.

Doomfinger · 12/06/2012 00:40

I've just read this thread for the first time. All the best for tomorrow (well today) he deserves whatever he gets and it sounds like he won't do himself any favours!

holidaysarenice · 12/06/2012 00:49

Good luck!

Think about whether the money is worth it. I was once advised (not employment tho) that the judge wud probably have awarded a few k more, but he might also look at the fact i had turned down two settlements, (one ridiculously low and one okish) and think i was out for the money.

i went for the money, thinking the loss of a wee bit was better than having to go through court, whilst it shud have been proceeding i was enjoying my money.
