How long after applications close do you hear if you got an interview? and by phone/email/letter?

I'm sure the answer to this 'it depends on the company' but I applied for a job and applications closed on Monday. The interview date is 29th Nov so that doesn't give them long and I was just wondering if I should assume I have been unsucessful yet or not? I think i'm probably being too impatient, well I hope I am!!

Also, any idea if they would contact by phone, email or letter?

It's a job in a school if that helps at all.

normally by phone in my experience -
and if you are not succesful quite often nothing at all.

I think if you havn't heard tomorrow assume its not happening - sorry

Thanks anothername, yep was thinking the same myself. DH was saying give it til Friday but I think that's quite late notice, was really thinking if I was sucessful i'd have heard today. Although we all know schools aren't that great at giving much notice so there's still a glimmer of hope Grin

I have been in this situation. After 2-3 days, if I know the interview date, I email and ask to be notified if I am not going to be interviewed so that I can organise my schedule for that day. I just did this in fact. Deadline was last wed and interview is 30th. On Monday I sent the email. Yesterday I was invited for interview (by email).

I have usually had a call to interview by phone - but clearly some people email.
