Becoming an embalmer

I have skills that aren't getting used, and it was mentioned to me about trying to train to become an embalmer. It sounds like something that, strangely enough, may be up my street. Does anyone know what a freelance one would earn/how they work it out (per body or hour etc)? I know this is a bit of a long shot, but mumsnet is awesome and I be that with the network here someone may know. :)

I think embalmers are generally employed by funeral parlours. Maybe contact your local funeral directors and ask if they have a vacancy/apprenticeship available?
