Does anyone know what qualifications you need please?

And any general advice would be very gratefully received.

Thanks

I understand you need at the very least a NVQ level 2 in childcare, or EYPS status, which you can study for after a foundation degree in childcare, or do via a graduate route.

But I only know this because I am also interested in the area so have been googling - I have no experience of my own, so hopefully someone else can comment for us!

You could try asking your local sure start centre about training for this - I'm doing a childcare level 1 course with them next term (for free!) (you don't need level 1 to do level 2 - it's an introductory course) but anyway, they are probably a good place to get advice.

ps I think some places you can apply to work unqualified while you train for the level 2. Not sure what they pay is like though.

also, here is a page about eyps www.mumsnet.com/microsites/eyps

A bucketload of energy and patience I would imagine!
