I am due to return to work after taking a year off on maternity leave with my first child. I recently had meeting with my employers after making a request for flexible working.

I have accrued around twenty days of holiday which means if returning to work only two days a week, I'd be on holiday until March when I would much rather return in December as originally intended.

The company I work for were recently rebranded which meant we all had to reapply for our positions. My job is safe but my contract is full time(40hrs) so my employers suggested that I come back on a full time contract, take my holiday during that time and come back in the new year by which time my part time hours would take effect.

I would be happy to do that because it will mean one last full time wage but my concerned about whether that would affect my benefits if I technically work full time for one month inorder to clear my unspent holiday in one go.

PLEASE HELP!!! NEED ADVICE

Which benefits? Any means tested benefits are likely to change when you increase or reduce your hours, of course.

New - this is exactly what I'm doing - mat leave ending at start of Dec, I'm taking the whole of Dec as holiday (accrued at full time hours during my year's mat leave) then "actually" returning in Jan on part time hours. This is the best way to preserve holiday. However, I don't understand your quesyion about benefits - what are you concerned about exactly?
