Paying back occupational maternity pay

Ribenababy · 26/10/2011 14:50

There's a possibility that I may be leaving my current job before I have worked the required 6mths to qualify for my occupational maternity pay. Obviously this money has been taxed so am I liable for the whole amount or just the amount that was actually received? Apologies for being naieve about this but I know there are some HR/pay experts out there, so please help!

At our company you have to pay back the amount you actually receive in the bank. Although they do ask for it back in a lump sum, which has shocked several mums into completing the mandatory term [luckily only 3 months here].

Hope that helps.

Effectivly they're the same.

You'll pay back the Net amount but when the re-work the tax the net amount goes back to the employer. It's important they do this as you need to have an accurate payslip.
