I own my own handmade soap and bath products shop called Georgias soapbox, although im managing to get a good rank on google and lots of backlinks etc someone said that facebook marketing is also a good way to go.

Ive set up a page, linked my online shop to it and invited all my friends. Whats the next step? I know all about facebook ads etc and was thinking about getting some before xmas but how an i get more 'likes' to my page before then? Ive been up just over a week and only got 93 likes :( ive been offering free samples competitions etc but where should i be posting/looking?

Does anyone else market through facebook/twitter? Any advice?

Yes, I know quite a bit about this :) and am responsible for more than a handful of business acounts. Facebook ads work tbh, and don't forget you can control the budget for this, FB combined with twitter would be good for you - lots of small similar businesses that support each other. The key is 'content' also, give people something to read, see or respond to. Also , remember that you are unlikely to ever have 10k fans, and not to worry about the numbers, it's quality over quantity and fans don't always convert to customers via Social media, but it's an awesome free tool, but is does cost time.

Yes i was hoping to get some ads before xmas and see how they do, ive been doing a bit of reading about them and they do seem like they will be worth it as christmas will be my busiest time hopefully :s. Im also quickly learning that fans dont turn to customers as my customers so far havnt come from social media sites. I have linked my twitter to facebook so im hoping that will help too thanks.
