I've just heard about a new childcare agency that specialises in ad hoc bitty childcare. I thought I might share the info on here as this is a perennial problem in the Boffin household so it must be for others as well. Also if anyone uses them, can you post how it went so we know if they are any good?

Seriously, Im not sure if I've understood this correctly...

I'm a graphic designer and considering going back to work part time. Children are now 10 and 7 so I don't need full time childcare, but I would need full days in the holidays.

But on a term day I would be able to work say 10am - 6pm for which i might get paid £25 per hour so £200 gross so after 30% deductions for tax, Ni etc that would be £140.

According to this website for childcare cover 3-7pm = 4hrs@ £15.26 + a £50 agency rate for the day so I would have to pay £110 for childcare for the day Shock

What a joke! A full day's work, leaving my children with someone else, all for £30! No wonder it's not worth it!!! It always comes down to this. And school holiday time. And no wrap-around care or holiday clubs at our schools either.

I am also looking for ad hoc childcare. Usually I am able to run the businesses around nap times, etc and when my husband comes home after work but really need to get some ad hoc help for meetings, important calls and in those days when I have got work to complete. Unfortunatley I haven't found any agency, nursery, etc that deliver ad hoc chlidcare. Does anyone know of a reliable agency that does this in south London?

There's third door in Wandsworth Mafer - you take the children to the on site nursery and work upstairs. I'd have a look at that.
