DH's work have just brought in a new uniform. He was given his - one shirt, size small and literally couldn't get it on.

So he turned up the next day in his old uniform. Manager asked why he wasn't wearing the new uniform and he explained it was just too small and could he have another.

Manager's response: "You should lay off the pies then"

I urged him to complain but he's reluctant as it's a zero hours contract, his manager would know it was him who complained and the would just cut back his hours.

Surely he can't be in this crap a position?

DH has already submitted multiple complaints about this manager and this comment really touched a nerve.

Anyone more knowledgeable than me about this?

His company should have a grievance procedure which he should follow.
