How long do you have to work for to qualify for redundancy?

Scenario- Staff member employed as supply staff (to be called on as and when) with no fixed shifts from April 2009. Given a contract and fixed hours from Jan 2011, facing possible redundancy November/December 2011.

Also, can you claim state benefits if you take voluntary redundancy?

I have looked on the internet but can't find all the information, can MN help?
