adwords and adverts

I am not a very technical person but I run an online business and I would really like to know about google adwords and facebook adverts. Could someone please give me some basic advice on how to get started and how to use these things as effectively as possible? Thanks for your help

I've posted a fair bit about adwords on this board - do an advanced search for adwords and my name (both with and without the 2) and you'll find the threads
