Do I need to redo my PGCE?

I did my PGCE in secondary English 9 years ago. I was half way through my NQT year when I had my first child (bad planning) and so never finished it. I have been a SAHM since then.

My 4th child is now 2 so I'm looking to the future a bit. I always intended to go back into teaching once all the children were at school.

My question is: where do I start? Obviously I have a PGCE but is that out of date now? Will I just be able to go and redo my NQT year somewhere? I can't imagine I would look like a great prospect next to someone who has recently completed their training so would it be better to try and find a GTP place and retrain?

I really don't know who the relevant people are to go to with these questions so would appreciate any advice.

The Training and Development Agency for Schools should be able to help www.tda.gov.uk/. Have just had a quick look and there are Returning to Teaching Programmes and all sorts.

Thank you. That is exactly what I was looking for.
