So a really ideal job has come up for me. 3 days a week, good location, flexible hours, nice people. Problem is that when I deduct travel and childcare I will be working for £370 a month. Why am I doubting weather to go back? That will pay for our food shop each month and give myself and DD valueable time apart - I know it will do her good a few days away from me. Something is stopping me!

that not that bad - how old is your DD - when she is in pre-school/school childcare cost will come down - probably just nerves stopping you?

She is 10 months and hope to go back when she is 1 year old. I think I am anxious as she is still on 2 day feeds and won't take a bottle of milk or cup. Just water.

I think it sounds like an excellent opportunity. As An0ther said when free hours kick in that will make a difference and for now I'd say that money was worth it as well as keeping you well positioned in the work place. Three days a week is a good balance and I think she'll settle on the drinking when she's there.

Any change is bound to make you unsettled for a bit and wonder whether the whole thing is a good idea.

I turned something similar down about a month ago and although I would have been losing about that amount every month I seriously regret it. It is very hard to find anything worthwhile with flexible hours. Things will get a lot easier over time.

Plus National Insurance contributions, pension contributions (?), keeping your skills up to date.

Do it - I work 4 days for about £300 after childcare of my 3 ds's. I am killing myself and 3 days would be lovely so v jealous of that but I do it for my sanity and my longer term prospects re pension, cv etc. Big gap out of work idea scares me.

you can get increased child tax credits to help with the cost of childcare, and it makes a huge difference to the money at the end of the month
