working on a sunday - reimbursement of hours?

company is organising a big 3 day event.
all staff have been asked to work on the sunday before that event.
contract doesn't specify weekend work and out of hours.
what happens normally?
switching the sunday for 1.5 extra days during the week?
pay out?
what are the rights?

There's no legal right to a higher rate of pay or extra time in lieu or anything like that for working on a Sunday. What are the company proposing to do?

mousymouse · 31/08/2011 13:47

they are not proposing anything, that's why I am asking.

Hmm Sorry but that wasn't obvious, it's just as likely you could have been asking because they'd proposed something you weren't happy with.

There's your answer anyway, hope it helps.

thank you so much for your help anyway :)

I've had two different scenarios with different employees

1 work extra hours for no extra pay/no time off in lieu

  1. Take straight time off in lieu

It all depends on the company. Best to ask your line manager.
