CV help

[argghh]

OK, I havent updated my CV for years, but with redundancy looming its time to do it. I have worked in IT for years. Can anyone offer advice on best way to put details into my CV.
Should I leave education to the end as its largely been superceded by experience?
Me tech knowledge is well out of date (been team leading and project mmanaging for last few years) do I still list it all ?
How long should it be ?

Hi, I'm sure someone will be along with better info soon, but just to kickstart, I think it's all about grabbing attention and backing up with succint clear and brief examples. So def relevant employment first (after 2 or 3 lines of personal profile tailored to job spec) with appropriate examples then education (again with good examples of any projects etc. And two pages long.

A CV should never be longer than 2 pages. It doesn't have to have lots of minute details, just the relevant stuff.

If you get in anything that's going to interest them then they can ask you to expand at interview hopefully! But I think the key is to still make it concrete rather than just sort of tantalising!

2 -3 pages - with keys things on the first page
Education in but short and at the end
I have a key skill bit that I tailor at the start
technical skill for IT roles i would put down what ever you could do with a bit of updating - loads of IT jobs are found by key word searches so I would have as many as possibly

Ah yes that keyword search - forgot about that - when I have been recruiting in the past its been amusing how that throws up some CVs that are inappropriate for job but has that particulat keyword somewhere in the CV.
