Back to work - Strategies for getting out of the house on time!

I'm going back to work (p/t) in a months time and am starting to fret about getting both myself and DS (9 mths) ready and out of the house on time in the mornings. DH leaves v early so that he can get back in time to do the pick up from nursery so he's not likely to be any help. Anyone have any clever tricks for getting ready and out the door? Is it just a matter of being organised the night before and having everything to hand?

shower and blow dry hair the night before
get up before 15mins before dc and get washed and dressed, do make-up
put dressing gown back on to protect against wee/vomit/weetabix and only remove as you're going out of the door.
actually, if dc can breakfast at nursery that saves loads of time.

Oh good idea re the dressing gown! DS gets up around 5.30 at the moment so getting up 15 mins won't work, and I think he'll have to have breakky at home as the earliest I can drop him at nursery is 8am which I think is a bit late to eat. Am crossing my fingers he'll start sleeping a bit later which would help on all accounts!

For the first week, get up half an hour earlier than you think you need to, then pare down your routine from there. Good luck!

Tis all in the preparation the night before!

Get your clothes out ready and get his clothes out too.

Set the table for breakfast. Put teabag in cup ready to just pour water on!

Shower before bed and make any lunches and put them in the fridge.

If I have a time to work to then I am much more organised so if I were you I would be ready to leave the house at 7.40 am to get ds to nursery at 8am.

You will get into a great routine eventually.

I start work at 8am I drop DD off at nursery just after 7.30
I get all her things 4 nursery & clothing organised the night b4-also agree with shower/blow dry night b4 2, saves ssooo much time!! I don't drive (learning at the moment) and it takes 30mins 2get 2 nursery. I get up round 6.15-6.30 at the latest & aim 2n out of the door 7ish.
DD has breakfast at nursery which is a relief
But I give her a small bottle feed just as she gets up, as I normally have 2 wake her

Thanks all. I think one of my major worries at the moment is the food thing as he is still a milk monster in the mornings and I worry about when I'll fit the feeds in (need to start getting him used to holding his own bottle!)

My DD is trying bless her- but can't manage 2 give herself a bottle.
She is 14 months

I think DS doesn't want to give up the mummy snuggles that come with it!
