To follow up on an application is...?

I have applied for a job I would really like and think I would be very good at. I applied on Monday and haven't heard back from them yet. Is it worth contacting the agency?

If so, when is the earliest I can do this? Would they think it's a good thing or will they be annoyed with the extra workload and therefore automatically delete my CV?

What do I say IF I follow up on the application?

When was the closing date?

Did they give any indication of when shortlisting would take place. I would say that a week after the closing date is about the right time to make an enquiry.

This is the advantage of going through an agency - they are a buffer between you and the employer so hopefully you can ask questions and the employer won't get a good or bad impression!

It did not have a closing date but said "My client is recruiting throughout the South-East and holding initial telephone assesments now."

I'll phone them next week to see.
