Hi, just about to start doing my c.v and was wondering if anyone had any tips, i have been a SAHM for about 10 years now ( 3DC, youngest nearly 7, oldest 10), how far back are you meant to go with employment history, as haven't worked for ages but have done voluntary work in this time, and how long is it meant to be.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
jen

Maximum of two sides.
Date order
Put all of your employment history on
For the time you've been a sahm put the dates and "career break to raise family"
Don't put details of your family (names, ages etc, your marital status, how many pets you've got) employers aren't interested

And very best of luck.

Include things that are meaningful to an employer.

I normally ask for a 10 year employment history. In your case, I'd suggest that you go back far enough to show a meaningful career. So if your pre-2001 job was a five year stint of something significant, I'd just put that (and possibly the one before it). I wouldn't go right back to supermarket Saturday jobs.

I'd include voluntary work if its significant, and probably draw some clear strands between that and your new career (to show that you've 'kept your hand in' if that applies).
