What you need to be a freelancer

I have recently returned as a freelancer and it is a nightmare. There are so many rules, regulations (IR35) etc. Do you think alot of mums returning back to work realise the implications of being a freelancer?
Would really appreciate your opinion

I haven't had any issues. I registered with HMRC as self employed, got a couple of clients and I was off. Oh and took some of the HMRC free seminars on expenses and such.

IR35 does not affect true freelancers
and it only applies to limited companies

being self employed is not scary
have a read through my ebay me page ...

phew, very glad to hear that IR35 doesn't apply to a sole trader as i've never heard of it Grin

i'm just starting out but it seems manageable to me - register, keep accounts, pay tax, make NI contributions. think that's it isn't it?

That's what I've been doing!
