Do you like it? Currenty on Maternity leave with dc3. I'm a dental nurse 20 miles away, due to go back in September.

My local asda is currently recruiting and I'm thinking of applying.

Although it will mean taking a cut in wages, it is only 5 mins away from my house instead of my usual 1 hour+ commute. I'm a people person and like to make small talk so think working on the check out would be ideal??

Any thoughts?

I worked in Asda for 5 years and enjoyed it. I worked in the cash office though, so less customer contact, although I used to do overtime on the checkouts. I would say it depends on how many hours you want to work - all day shifts on a checkout can be mind-numbingly boring. Really, really boring. And you can't eat or have a cup of tea or go to the loo whenever you want on a checkout, (although that might be the case in your current job!) I liked working there, but would go for a different department if possible.

Oooh I used to work in the cash office in primark when I was a student and loved it! Didn't even think of looking for a similar sort of job locally. I shall Investigate!
