Anyone else have this problem? I wanna go back to work to get off this housing benefit , and depend on our own...but just cant manage it!
Would have to pay out for before and after school care for 3 children. Leaving me £2 per day worse off!! (and thats working 8.30-5pm!) Not fair!!

yup, same as i was a couple of years ago. i went to college instead cos they paid childcare and it got me out of the house. im now at uni doesnt solve the money problem right away but might be worth looking into?

Tried that for the last few years, just didnt get a chance to complete coursework on time, and do revision!

Pinkystinky I knew someone in this exact situation - what they did in the end was work, because there was then the scope for moving up / promotion and earning more; which isn't there if not working at all. However it is a real PIG of a situation and everyone should be able to earn more than benefits rate for working those hours, it's outrageous!

I guess working as well gives you another purpose to life, a feeling of doing something outside the home - is this worth paying £2 a day for? I guess only you know how you feel about it when all's said and done.

Good luck x

Not really any scope for rising on the career ladder. Id only be going back t retail work, and couldnt hack the manergerial side of this( get enough stress at home, lol!)
Well we are gonna move back to a smaller house in sept , which will save us £200. Id have to reavaluate then. Dont get me wrong,id love to go back, just dont see why i should wear me self out at a loss iyswim.
