Having been very unhappy for far to long at work I am looking into starting my own business in the work I currently do. However, I have no experience or any idea about employing people. Could anyone point me in the right direction eg legislation, a book, a website?

I'm in the same situation, and last year went to business link. They were ok, can point you in the right direction (if they are still about). I know that the tax office does courses, and also acas have advice on their site and do courses to. Good luck with everything

HMRC do seminars to cover the basics. If you're unsure the easiest way might be to pay and agency to supply staff. Costs a buit more £££ but takes care of payroll etc for you.
