Temporary contract and pregnancy

I am hoping that someone can give me some advice. I am currently on a 6 month contract with genuinely no idea if it will be renewed (up til September) I work in the third sector and funding, as always is the main issue/sticking point. At the end of the last financial year the organisagtion went through consultation and a couple of people were made redundant and I know that it is likely to happen again in the future (although not before September) What would my rights be if I announced to my bosses that I am pregant? Am i still constrained by the 6 month contract? would I have a job going forward? would I be eligable for redundancy? I have so many questions and I don't know what to do!

If your employer would have otherwise renewed your contract they can't decide not to on the basis of your pregnancy or maternity leave - that should not be a factor.

So whether you have a job once your contract is up should depend on whatever funding/other factors there are.

If you've only been employed less than 6 months then no, you won't be eligible for redundancy pay if your contract is not renewed.

I was in this position and choose not to inform them of my pregnancy till I knew (although not the only reason I didn't tell them). You don't say how far along you are or whether you are worried if it will have an impact?
